Wheel Identification

1978-1981 Cast Aluminum Sport Wheel

This is what the Olds FAQ says:

"Option code N78 (possibly N76), Cast Aluminum Sport Wheel with Die-Cast Ornament. Available in 1978, $290 on the Salon and Supreme, $274 on the Supreme Brougham and $283 on the Calais. These are the same wheels that were part of the 1979 & 1980 W-30 packages, but they were only available in gold. Still available in 1981, the price changed to $292 for the Cutlass Sedan and Supreme, $284 on the Supreme Brougham and $273 on the Calais. They were gone for 1982."

This is what we say:

Optional wheel for intermeadiates from 78-81. These wheels were offered in both gold and grey/silver. The Hurst/Olds received only the gold ones. They were 14"x6" with a 5 bolt on 4¾" circle. Too bad these did not come in a 15" size, as they would be a nice addition to any mid-sized Olds. These are hard to come by, so be prepared to pay a bit more, especially if you find a set in good shape. (Photos courtesy David Bacon)
